The country packs mountains, desert and two coastlines into one journey, so 'the best time' depends on where you are going and what you want to feel. Here is how the year actually plays out.
The short answer
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the sweet spots almost everywhere: warm days, cool evenings, gardens in bloom or the light turning golden. If you can only travel then, you will rarely go wrong.
Spring (March-May) - the classic window
Marrakech is at its best: 20-28C, the Agafay desert still green at the edges, and rooftop dinners without the summer heat. Casablanca and Tangier are mild and breezy. This is peak season for a reason, so the finest riads and tables book out early.

Summer (June-August) - coast, not city
Inland Marrakech gets hot (35C+), which suits pool days and early-morning excursions but not midday souks. The move is to shift toward the Atlantic: Casablanca and Tangier stay pleasant, and the coast comes alive. Sunrise activities and late dinners are the rhythm.
Autumn (September-November) - our quiet favourite
Arguably the best all-round window: summer heat fades, light softens, and the crowds thin after the European holidays. Perfect for combining Marrakech with a few days in Tangier or the north.
Winter (December-February) - mild days, cool nights
Marrakech stays sunny and mild by day (18-20C) but nights get cold, and the High Atlas wears snow - a striking backdrop. Fewer visitors and a calmer pace make it lovely for those who prefer quiet. Pack layers.
A note on Ramadan
Ramadan (dates shift each year) is a beautiful, atmospheric time, but daytime rhythms change and some venues adjust hours. It is very doable with a little planning - which is exactly the sort of thing we handle for guests.
