The high-speed train (Al Boraq)
Africa's first high-speed line links Tangier and Casablanca in about two hours and is genuinely excellent — comfortable, punctual and scenic. Beyond that corridor the classic network is slower but pleasant. Our favourite formula is to combine rail for the fast Tangier–Casablanca leg with a private chauffeur waiting at each station.
On the road & etiquette
A few small courtesies go a long way in Morocco and make you a welcome guest. Tipping is woven into daily life — modest, in cash, and always appreciated.
- ◆Carry small notes for tips; rounding up for drivers and porters is customary.
- ◆Fridays (the day of prayer) and prayer times affect traffic and opening hours — plan around them.
- ◆Dress modestly in medinas and religious sites; a light scarf is handy.
